Strengths

1) Scoring - Warren has always been the scoring type. Every season since Bantams, she's led her team in goalscoring. She attributes this to the work she puts in off the ice on specifically her accuracy. Teammates have often said that Warren's shot is unstoppable by any goalie. In her college career, she led all freshmen in goals with 26, placing her among the top rookies in the nation at the NCAA level.

2) Skating - Another strong point of Warren game is her ability to skate circles around the other team. Warren has worked with famous skating coach Andy Ness since she was a little kid, and has always been a top tier skater. Her speed is above all else and it's really gone hand in hand with her goalscoring ability, which makes her the perfect offensive powerhouse that her team needs her to be.

3) Leadership - An often overlooked part of Warren's game is her ability to lead. She has always been a natural leader and has captained numerous teams she has played for. In Midgets, she held the team captaincy for four years until she moved on to play for Wisconsin, where she donned the C in her sophomore year. Former teammates have said that she always knows how to rally a team behind her and is able to keep spirits high. Her natural offensive ability also allows her to lead by example.

Weaknesses

1) Passing - Focusing so much on one part of her game, Katie has found that her passing is sub-par, and can't really seem to get it in tune. It's not that she's a puckhog, but she can never seem to make consistently nice passes to her teammates. Warren has been cited saying "I need to become a better passer. I can't be sending my teammates weak, wobbly passes and expect them to make something of it." This being said however, Warren has been seen working with a skills coach on passing as of late, so we can see where that will take her.

2) Physicality - Warren is of a smaller stature in the hockey world, and it shows time and time again when she has trouble battling in the corners and playing the body against opponents. Seeing as the VHLM is a physical league, Warren will need to find another way to outplay her opponents, because her body isn't built for it. It's very hard to hit people and take the body when you're 5'10 155. If she wants to elevate her game even further, she'll need to work even harder at trying to play physically in a male dominated sport.

3) Defense - Being a winger, Warren already doesn't have may d-zone responsibilities, however it's become clear that her play in her own zone is lackluster at best. She's often the result of point shots and the other team using their dmen so much. Her team has never praised Warren on her defensive ability, however she is still expected to hold her own, which she has shown that she cannot. It's great that she's so good with the puck, but when she doesn't have it, she becomes a defensive liability.
