BENNETT WAHL ROOKIE PROFILE

NAME: Bennett Wahl

Birthplace: SOMEWHERE IN CANADA EH

Player Type: Playmaker

Position: Center

Jersey Number: 12

Height (inches): 5'9
Weight (lbs.): 175

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Smaller players aren't exactly a norm in hockey, where many times size is needed to compete. Bennett Wahl stands at a modest five foot nine and weighs in at around 175 pounds which is hardly menacing. His first season in the VHLM saw him struggle to put up points in the regular season. The season wasn't all lost as the Yukon Rush made a push in the playoffs. The team made it to the finals where Wahl picked up his game slightly. His .48P/20 in the playoffs was significantly higher than his regular season average (.34). This increase saw Wahl get drafted four spots higher (by the Toronto Legion) than he was expected to go and seems have lit a fire under his ass. Wanting to show the naysayers wrong, Wahl has worked hard in the offseason to improve his game and is still a work in progress to the Toronto Legion. Wahl has all the potential in the world, now it’s time to see how committed he really is to becoming the VHL’s newest star.

STRENGTHS

Scoring: Wahl shot an extremely modest 5.41% during the regular season but picked it up dramatically during the playoffs, increasing that number to 20.00%. Seems slightly erratic, but he showed that he definitely didn't have much puck luck during the season.

Faceoffs: Faceoffs, a trademark of any center man. Wahl has averaged over 50% on the dot and look for that number to only drive up as he continues to work on this facet of his game.

Passing: Known as a playmaker, Wahl has fantastic vision on the ice. He can pick out teammates and is great at putting the puck on his linemates sticks. If he can continue to work on his passing and scoring, he will become a two way threat and everyone knows that’s better than one.

Skating: Speed, agility, acceleration. Wahl excels in these areas and has shown blazing speed. He can blow by defenders and with his smaller stature, his speed has become one of his greatest weapons.

WEAKNESSES

Checking: Checking isn't a role Wahl is suited to play; he needs to be put in offensive situations to thrive. Don’t expect Wahl to throw his weight around until he fills out his frame.

Strength: A lot of Wahl’s problems will come with his lack of strength. If he wants to win any battles along the boards he will need to work harder in the gym and be willing to go to the dirty areas.

Defense: Another thing Wahl doesn't perform well is defending. He seems lazy at times in the defensive zone and isn't always matched up against the other team’s top line for this. He needs to learn to play a 200 foot game if he wants to be successful in this league and it seems this is something the coaches are focusing at with Wahl.

As much as I would like to see more beef to this, you did get the word minimum and you did have that introductory paragraph I like to see as well as pros and cons.

Some hyphen omissions here and there, but take those away and there isn't much, just some smaller items. The flow was exceptional.
