After being voted the recipient of the Christian Stolzschweiger trophy as the most outstanding rookie of season 63; Julian Borwinn played well in season 64 but did not keep his scoring pace. Helsinki re-tooled their roster with vets meaning the youngster would see the majority of his ice time from the second line. As a result of his reduced minutes, Borwinn dropped from 84 points to 71 and the more apparent stat of 483 shots to 303. He scored 14 less goals but enjoyed his teams overall success as they went 41-22-9 good for 3rd in the league. Helsinki would go on to eliminate the defending champion Riga Reign and advanced to the cup final vs Toronto. Helsinki went in to the final as the slight favorite but were bit by one of the strongest goalies the VHL has ever seen in Norris Stopko.

Season 65 brings again a new look Helsinki club who will look to free agency for some strong additions to their offense and defense. The attitude in Helsinki is to compete every season and develop its youngsters into its eventual leaders. Borwinn showed his commitment to this mantra as he signed a 4 season deal with the Titans worth $12.75million.
