Yikes oh yikes oh yikes. That is what JB Rift has been saying to himself in his head, as he sleeps, all the time pretty much now. Rift finally got to see his first start in the VHL with the Toronto Legion and the young netminder, let's say, had a less than stellar start to his VHL career. Playing back up this season after the Legion (thankfully! my god) resigned JHC back to take the starter position, the pressure was off for Rift. He only had to come in against the worst in the league, expansion team no less....and just go with the flow. His team would likely outshoot the teams he plays and provide offense so even if he lets in a few, who cares right?

Well after Rifts first performance, a game in which he clearly lost his team the game against the expansion Moscow Menace, Rift will be the one who's "care level" should be questioned. Despite Toronto out shooting the Menace 49 to 15, the Legion lost 4-3. While can certainly look to Justin Cole, the Moscow netminder who had a fantastic game in his own right. Scoring 3 goals against the other team and only letting them get 15 shots should be a sure fire way to win any hockey game. That is unless you have Skylar Rift in net. Rift is set to start more games this season against both Moscow and Calgary and have a shot at redeeming himself. Unfortunately for a young player like Rift it may have to get worse before it get's better.
