The city of Edderton, a small town of 338 residents.

It's not often that a Scottish players takes up hockey. One would normally assume that a Scot would take up Football (or Soccer to westerners,) Rugby, Golf, or other Highland Games. It's less likely that a small lad would hail from a city of 338 people, and its even less likely that that very man would go on to score 13 goals and 10 assists in 41 games played for the Houston Bulls of the VHLm, starring on a line with Swedish twins. Chance, luck, whatever you might call it, there's no doubt that there's a common variable in the backstory of MacElroy.

MacElroy began doing tours around Europe to play hockey, and due to Edderton not having an ice rink for miles, it lead to Callum going on hour long drives to the rink just to play hockey outside of the winter season. It's probably the most telling thing about MacElroy, considering he didn't have the same luxuries as most Canadian or European players by having an ice rink by every neighborhood.

We were able to get a comment from General Manager Pepper:

"Yea, you know, I sent some scouts to the UK earlier in the season before we solidified our roster. We saw Callum there playing in the UK and we thought that he had a lot of raw talent that could be refined. He's a bit rough around the edges but we are hoping to smooth all that out. I think he's gonna go on to be a great player in the VHL, and in my honest opinion, he's probably one of the steals of the draft. People that go that late don't pan out often. We put him with Ludvig, smacked them on the they're producing, so thats good.

We are relying on our coaching staff to be able to really drill the basics and refine the other portions of his game. He's had an uptick from the first quarter of the season to the half way point, so there's proof of his development. The scouts that watched him practically forced me to draft the kid, so we did."

Later on, we were able to interview Callum himself:

"Ah am huir uv a greatful fur th' oppurtunity ye ken, Ah come frae a village ay 300ish fowk sae Ah coold've jist as likely bin a farmer ur somethin' honestly. aam still workin' oan improvements in mah gam sae Ah can gie tae th' next level, sae make sure ye swatch fur me tae dae 'at."

We dont know what that means, but we think hes doing just fine.

So far, Callum MacElroy has 23 points in 41 games, with 13 goals and 10 assists, and is currently looking like a solid pick for where he was drafted. He was drafted 30th overall by the Calgary Wranglers, so it'll be interesting to see if he gets a call up in the off-season and makes his VHL debut by next season. He is also currently sitting on the reserve for team Europe.
