Match Fixing Scandal: Charlie Paddywagon investigated

Recommended Posts

The Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) has launched an official investigation into match fixing allegations against Las Vegas Aces defenseman Charlie Paddywagon. An anonymous tip led the NGC to open the investigation. Initial details allege that Paddywagon placed a bet in the VHLM Fantasy Zone’s weekly “Predict the Score” game. Paddywagon bet that in VHLM game 212 the Ottawa Lynx would beat the Las Vegas Aces team he plays on by the score of 4-3. The tip cites video evidence of Paddywagon’s subpar performance, especially in overtime, to claim that Paddywagon threw the game in order to win his bet.

Requests for official comments have largely gone unanswered. Both Charlie Paddywagon and his attorney have not made a comment. Las Vegas Aces management and the managers of the VHLM Fantasy Zone have not responded to requests for comments either.

These allegations come at a terrible time for Paddywagon and the Aces. Las Vegas is barely hanging on to the final playoff spot in the VHLM. Distractions like this could sink the team’s cup chances. Paddywagon is expected to be a 1st or 2nd round draft pick in the upcoming VHL draft. His draft stock may plummet now that this investigation has been made public.

Expect continual reporting on this scandal. If the claims are true, the ramifications could rock the hockey world like nothing we have seen.
