The scope of the Nevada Gaming Commission’s investigation into match fixing allegations has widened in both the parties being investigated and the ones doing the investigation. NGC officials confirmed they learned details during their investigation that required them to refer issues to the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). Officials at both the NGC and FBI have replied to requests for comments with a no-information response of “[we] do not discuss ongoing investigations.”

Additionally our reporters have learned that the investigation, which was originally focused on Charlie Paddywagon and the VHLM Fantasy Zone, now includes not only the VHL Fantasy Zone (the major league version of the VHLMFZ), but also the VHL and VHLM leagues themselves.

A person with close ties to the investigations said the FBI’s investigation will be focused primarily on what the leagues are doing to ensure that all games are performed in a fair and just manner. “Fans of not just the VHL and VHLM, but of all sports, must be guaranteed that the games are played in an equal and fair manner. To be cleared of wrongdoing, officials of the VHL and VHLM will need to prove they protect against outside influence negatively affecting the outcome of games.” The anonymous source also added that the feds are interested in what awards are given to the players for winning fantasy zone games. To this point, that has been a closely guarded secret of the VHL and VHLM.
