Young Aussie breaks into VHLM

By Steven Brockman

Late this afternoon 21-year-old Australian time, Berocka Sundqvist completed the VHLM dream by scoring his first goal. It happened in the 17th minute of the first period of the game between Sundqvist’s Mississauga Hounds against the Houston Bulls. Sundqvist won the face-off in the neutral zone against Houston’s Zeno Miniti, for the restart after Dan Gles scored for the Hounds. The puck landed with team mate Hulk Hogan. Hogan skated the puck into the offensive zone who passed to Cody Smith, Smith took a shoot and missed the net, Sundqvist picked up the rebound and put the puck past the Houston goaltender Nicklaus Becker. Sundqvist’s goal was one of eight in the game as the Hounds beat the Bulls 6 - 2

This all happened in Sundqvist’s 16th game for the Hounds after being picked up on a rookie contract as a free agent. The Hounds are currently sitting in 6th in the VHLM with a record of 9-7-0.

We will have an upcoming interview with Sundqvist to talk to him about his opening weeks in the VHLM.
