Enorama 2,038
Hello all, and welcome back to my ELO talk. I missed last week because I didn't actually need the uncapped for every week this season as I can only claim it for 5 weeks or you could call me lazy, same difference. This week marks the end of the regular season, so I figured we could look at how things shaped up across the season as a whole, and what we might be able to expect heading into playoffs. To kick us off, here is the final ELO chart over time for S66: Here's what I'm seeing in this graph: 1. Helsinki is at least as good as we think they are, if not even better. This year's championship is probably theirs to lose (who wants to be our Columbus Blue Jackets?). 2. Riga doesn't have nearly the degree of separation from the rest of the pack as they appear to in the season standings. In fact, they've fallen below the surging New York Americans in ELO. Luckily for them, they don't have to face off against them in the first round. 3. Seattle finished a fair distance below every other team in the final standings, but according to my ELO formula, they were actually the third worst team in the league this season, nearly usurping Toronto to become the fourth to worst. 4. Malmo looks how an expansion team should look, with Moscow not far ahead. 5. There's a tidy little separation between playoff and non-playoff teams, which tells me the playoff system works perfectly (for this season, at least). That's all for this season, I'm looking forward to possibly testing a different formula next season or the one after. 282 words Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/64447-elo-and-the-vhl-part-4-end-of-season-edition/ Share on other sites
