Sixersfan594 247
Players To Watch For In The VHLm Playoffs The Victory Hockey League is the final goal, however for me and my player as of this moment -- the playoffs are much more important. Teemu Lehtinen Jr. scores two goals across 26 games and he has nothing to do with the theme of this article as I will cover the top players for this off-season. When it comes down to the playoffs, what matters the most are that your star players come out to play and without further ado I will present the players to watch for in the VHLm playoffs Callum MacEllroy The small forward on the Mississauga Hounds is going to be one of the most important players these playoffs. MacEllroy is a 5'7" Right Winger who is bulky and is an elite scorer. He is great on his skates and utilizes his speed in order to not only beat defenders, but to also get into goal scoring opportunities when his teammates have the puck. He led the league in goals by five, however he was also a threat in terms of finding open teammates as well. MacEllroy tallied up 107 points which led the league and also had 54 assists which is good for 12th in assists. One could play him for his shooting ability, however even then he would make opponents pay by finding his open teammates. I expect him to be an integral part of any playoff run which the Mississauga Hounds may make. Lincoln Tate The seventh seeded San Diego Marlins have a very dangerous offensive defenseman for the San Diego franchise. Tate happens to be a fairly balanced player on the offensive end with an uncanny ability to hold possession of the puck, score, and pass. As a defenseman it is very hard to score and thus he contributed to the offense mainly through assists. His 68 assists in 65 games were extremely impressive and helped the Marlins secure a spot in the VHLm playoffs. Adding on, Tate has improved his defense from first entering this league and is now around average to below-average on his own end. Look to see how Tate focuses his defensive abilities on insuring that the puck leaves his zone as soon as possible. Breakout passes are key and if the Marlins want to advance they will need Tate to focus on making sure that the puck leaves the zone quickly and that they keep possession. Kolur Bjoernsson I really did not want to pick the "top" statistical player in each category however passing over Bjoernsson would have been a major mistake. Bjoernsson is a goalie who tends to avoid many mistakes and is a well rounded goalie with very few flaws. While it would have been nice to have seen him play in a more challenging situation, he clearly made his mark on the Philadelphia Reapers organization. The Reapers were the best team in the league and Bjoernsson was clearly the best goalie and their match was made it heaven. As the playoffs have already commenced, it is important for this goalie to keep his team going and will them to victories when the going gets tough.
