STZ 5,387
Kimmo Salo VHL-Ready Helsinki, Finland. This is the first time in a long time where the Helsinki Titans weren't filling the Hartwell Arena in the post-season. While management did make an extra effort to distract fans from the current team that has been "shipped me off" in the off-season. Promotions, card-packs, press conferences, and charity events were all used through the year to focus on the future. However, after winning the Draft lottery and being guaranteed the 1st and 3rd overall picks, the fans don't need anything to aid the hype. However, one bright spot for next year is goalie Kimmo Salo. Being drafted behind Blaine Olynick of the Cologne Express, comparisons started early. Olynick was more trained, and had a higher pedigree. This season showed that Salo has that hunger to compete in the VHL. Salo led all goaltenders in save percentage and goals against average in the VHLM. He also had the most shutouts with twelve. He was able to lead his team to 63 wins and had a 100% penalty shot rate. Scouts everwhere are going crazy about this kid. After the hype and statistical dominance Tuomas Tukio displayed in Helsinki it's surprising another goalie is even being mentioned. The Titans are expected to ice an entire roster of prospects next year, and Kimmo Salo will be on display. While Dexter Morgan is still on the fence to get a call-up Jake Wylde will most definitely be there. Wylde has been one of the most ignored prospects playing on a developmental team that has his defense partner Vojczek Svoboda and Dimothenis Vlasis - two top defense prospects. With two picks inside the top three, the Titans are expected to add more support to Kimmo Salo and Jake Wylde. The entire Titans organization looks forward to the upcoming draft!
