With Seattle’s Game 4 win, the series is now down to a best-of-three, with two of the final three games in Vancouver. That includes a decided Game 7, if necessary.

The Seattle Bears pulled even with the Vancouver Wolves in their second-round playoff series Wednesday night in a close 3-2 game in game 4. Vancouver knew they needed to take control of the series in game 5.

Historically, when a series is tied 2-2, it usually works out pretty well for whichever team wins Game 5. Of all the best-of-seven series that have been played in every major sport, the Game 5 winner has gone on to win the series approximately 70 percent of the time. While we have not done the research into VHL game 5 winners, we can be pretty sure these stats are very similar.

Game 5 played out last night and the Wolves dropped game 5 in another close 3-2 loss. The Wolves players were lost for words after the game as now, the top seeded VHL team, is on the brink of elimination.

“ I know the media likes to throw around stats about game 5 winners when the series goes 2-2. We hear it but I don’t think that will affect us” Said Greg Eagles “ We are very capable of winning 2 back to back games and we will take it one game at a time. If we win tonight we get to go back to Vancouver and try to win in front of our fans. We’re motivated and we won’t be going down easily”

In order for the Wolves to win the offense will have to kickstart into another gear. One of the top offenses in the league has been struggling against a very good Seattle team and great play from Rayz Funk.

Eagles knows he also has to play better for his team to bounce back and win the series

“ I know I have been playing OK but that is not good enough for the playoffs. In the playoffs you have to play great “ Eagles Said “ I have let in a few soft goals and I wish I could take them back but I just have to concentrate on the next game. I need to play like I did in Game 2 and 3 for the last 2 games.

Eagles is having the best playoffs of his career sitting at a .906 save percentage (5th in the playoffs) and a 2.24 GAA (which is 2nd in the playoffs) and also has the 3rd most shots against.

“ I don’t care about those stats to be honest, all I care about is the wins. If we don’t win the next 2 games then who cares if im 2nd in GAA “ Eagles continued “ I am here to try and help my team win some more cups. Without winning a cup, these individual stats are useless”

Game 6 will be played later tonight as the Wolves will look to avoid being eliminated from the playoffs.
