Jaxx Hextall

position: Goalie

Age: 17

Height: 6'7"

weight: 192 lb

Canada British Columbia

Born into a family with a hockey heritage, hockey would seem like a natural career for the young kid, his great great grandfather was a forward in the NHL, his great grandfather was a forward in the NHL and a uncle of his great grandfather was, you guessed it a forward in the NHL as well. Of course his grandfather, Ron Hextall, can't not be talked about, the famous goaltender is probably the most well known out of the Hextall family. Jaxx looks to add to the family legacy and he's following in his grandfather's foot steps of being a goaltender. Jaxx knew that before he even started skating that being a goaltender was the position for him. Jaxx wouldn't start skating till he was 4 but it wasn't long after that that he got to play in game set up by parents all with kids passionate about hockey. Kids in the game were 4 to 6 years old, many of whom had been skating and playing hockey longer than Jaxx but he would go on to stop every puck and get a shutout in what was basically his first game. From there his dad believed that hockey was his future.

During his elementary school years he continued to grow and develop his game, showing immense passion for the game and his position, there wasn't a moment that went by that he wasn't doing something hockey related. It even got to the point that it started to affect his school grades though his parents would remedy that as much as they love his passion for hockey. His focus never faltered even as he finished elementary school and went into high school, never getting distracted by what other kids were doing. Jaxx did have a hard time with friendships during his highschool years due to his focus on hockey and only in the last year did he start to strike a bit more of a balance. Probably the biggest asset to Jaxx is his size, at 6'7" he's as tall as the NHL's Ben Bishop. He's shown he knows how to use it as effectively as possible and shown great positioning.

When the VHLM came calling after he graduated from highschool, he just couldn't say no. While he hopes to one day play in the NHL he's made the choice to play in the VHL first. Joining Halifax and needing to move all the way over to Nova Scotia from British Columbia, Jaxx wasted no time and started training, he made 32 starts for the team and went to the 2nd round before getting taken down by the juggernaut that was the Saskatoon Wild. Still Jaxx made his presence felt and now look's forward to playing one more season int the VHLM  with the Minnesota storm before moving up to the VHL. He wants to make sure he's properly ready and time will tell what Jaxx will do for the Legion.

(off topic but does anyone else remember Steve Shields? come on Shields is like the perfect name for a goaltender, he shields the net. Anyway I miss him)
