Hex Valentine's Junior Review

Hex Valentine started his hockey career in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga [DEL] playing on the Nürnberg Ice Tigers when he was 18. After a few solid years playing in the DEL, Hex decided to look for bigger and better leagues from across the pond. Hex heard of an American league in the States called the VHL and the minor league the VHLM. Hex spent a better part of a year playing in smaller American leagues such as the American Hockey League [AHL].

During his time in the DEL Hex didn't really do anything to standout from the crowd of his other teammates or the competition around him. He sort of fell in the middle of good and bad. He obviously had some work left to do to improve his game but over time he should be able to adjust what he needs to to have a better on ice performance.

While Hex does hail form Germany, he speaks, writes, and understands English just fine as he took the courses in high school. Hex did not study much of American culture before coming over to the United States but he has a better understanding for it after playing for a few seasons in the AHL to not make himself look like a fool in public.

After tuning his game and finding success in the AHL, Hex decided to take a summer break working out and studying game film on the VHL and the VHLM. He also took the time to study other goalies, defensive men and linemen in the league to see how each team worked. Hex spent 3 months studying these films and felt like he had a solid understanding of how the league and each team worked.

Hex went to each team over the 69th Season for the VHLM teams trying to decide which team would best suit his needs and to get a better understanding for the culture of the VHLM. Hex saw all the underdog wins and the heartbreaking defeats throughout the 69th Season and did his best to make mental notes of each game so he would not repeat those same mistakes.

Hex entered the VHLM S70 draft and was picked 51st overall by the Halifax 21st. Hex was excited to have finally landed a team and to have a place to call home. A long grind of playing in Germany, then working his way slowly through smaller American leagues was finally paying off. Will Hex go bust or be the future Halifax needs in net to win them a championship?
