  1. The goalie raises his hand to ask Tyler a few questions. "Hey Tyler, Hex here. I have a few questions I'd like to ask you. They are... 1] With 14 Games under your belt you've helped produce 22 Points. What would you say has helped you achieve that? 2] As of 5/28/20 You have the 3rd most assists in the VHLM. Do you think you'll be more of a play maker as the season goes on or hoping to put more pucks in the net? 3]As of 5/28/20 you're the 4th highest rated defensive man in the VHLM. How do you see yourself reaching that number 1 spot? 4]As of 5/28/20 you have a plus minus of +19 giving you the 7th spot in the VHLM for best +/-. IS that a sign to work harder on defense or push your offensive game more? 5] Has Saskatoon been a good fit for you? 6] In your rookie season you only played 19 games. With 14 under your belt do you think you'll be benched soon or are you confident your coaches will let you play more? 7] So far you only have 4 PIM, which is outstanding for any player. What helps you stay out of the box? 8] In your rookie year you had 22 hits by 19 games. With 14 games to your name you only have 4 hits. Is this due to a play style change or just haven't had the chance to body more players? 9] What aspects of your game are you going to work on this year? 10] Who on your team is your favorite defensive partner?"
  2. We’re part with the second part of our three part write up covering Hex Valentine. Yesterday we went over his rookie year, and how he stacked up with the other goalies and teams. We dove deep into his stats, and tried to figure out what he did wrong. Tonight we go over what happened to him in his sophomore season and why he suddenly disappeared. “I really wanted to keep this quiet, because I don’t think any excuse is good enough on why you let your team down.” Hex told us for his opening statement. “But I guess it’s only fair to my team and the fans about what happened. I ended up having a death in the family and it really hit me hard. My head just wasn’t in the right mind set. I lost my older brother, one of my biggest motivators, my biggest fan, and the best coach I had. He helped point out what I would do wrong in net every game and how to fix it.” Hex said as he had to take a few moments after telling us what happened to him. “He had Cystic Fibrosis, a very awful disease that has no cure and very little awareness. I made a promise to him this year that I would work harder than I ever had to help out not only my team but to myself as well. I will help this team to the playoffs and I will win a cup. I’m going to do it all for him.” Hex said as he finished up his statement. He had a cold second year that wasn’t much to look at in terms of how he played. Hex finished his Sophomore year in the VHLM going 17-36-4 as opposed to his rookie year where he went 20-50-2. Here is what he lead in, in stats for his Sophomore year (Season 71): Wins - 9th GP 57 Wins 17 Losses - 3rd GP 57 Losses 36 OT Losses - 4th GP 57 OTL 4 Save % - 9th GP 57 SV% 0.894 Goals Against - 4th GP 57 GA 251 Shots Against - 3rd GP 57 SA 2368 Assists - 9th GP 57 Assists 2 Penalty Minutes - 4th GP 57 PIM 4 It’s terrible for a player to regress in their 2nd season. We can only hope for his sake and for Halifax’s he will be able to bounce back. Otherwise he might find himself on the long road of Free Agency which can pretty much mean curtains for any player in the VHLM depending on how they end up there. “Thank you for taking the time with me so I could finally tell my team, the fans, and the VHLM on what happened. I know most will sympathize with me about why I took a break I can only hope to move forward and work five times harder than I ever had. I refuse to be a dead weight to this team, and to the league.” Hex said as his closing statement. Thank you all for reading the second part of this three part write up for Hex Valentine. When we return we will go over how he’s doing so far this season and what he plans on doing to make sure he can be a valuable asset to the 21st.
  3. Hex Valentine is now 2 seasons into his VHLM career. He exploded during his rookie year where he could always be found practicing but during his 1st pro year (or sophomore year as it’s better known) Hex seemed to have just disappeared. Halifax Report actually got to have a sit down with him to talk about his Rookie Year, Sophomore Year (or lack thereof), and his future plans for his hockey Career. This is Tyler Smith and you’re reading the Halifax Report provided by the VHL and VHLM ROOKIE YEAR During the 70th Season for the VHLM Hex Valentine was drafted by Halifax 21st as the 50th pick. Although some were skeptical of his abilities because of his age Hex was sure to not go down without a fight. “It was tough. One of the worst seasons I thought I’ve ever had.” Hex told VHL reporter Tyler. “I feel like I let the team down my rookie year. I wish I had performed harder.” He added. While it may be true that going 20-50-2 for your rookie year in net it can look like you did next to nothing. But if you dig deeper than that there’s more to be told than what lies on the surface. Looking back at the league leaders for Goalers during the 70th season of the VHLM you can see where Hex’s stats rank with the other Goalers during that time frame: Wins - 20 (7th place with 72 Games Played) Losses - 50 (3rd place with 72 Games Played) Save Percentage - 0.876 (7th place with 72 Games Played) Shutouts - 0 (Tied 8th place with 72 Games Played) Goals Against - 344 (2nd place with 72 Games Played) Shots Against - 2,769 (1st place with 72 Games Played) Assists - 3 (Tied 6th place with 72 Games Played) Penalty Minutes - 6 (Tied 2nd place with 72 Games Played) If you take a closer look you can see that Hex had faced the most shots during that season with 2,769 shots against him. “I don’t really feel like shots against is a good enough excuse to blow 50 games. It doesn’t matter if you face 200 or 2,000 shots when you’re in net. You still have a job to do and I didn’t do it.” Hex told Tyler during the report. While yes you DO have a job to do in net, it’s indeed not an easy feat when you’ve faced the most shots in the season. While this isn’t the most shots a VHLM player has faced in a single season, that honor would go to Devin Fox, who in 72 games faced 4104 shots. But that does give Hex the 14th spot for most shots faced in a single season. While not the worst start a goalie has had in a 72 game season Hex still thinks he could have played a much stronger game during that time. He still blames himself for how short they came up that season. Thanks for reading part 1 of this interview with Hex Valentine. When we come back next week we’ll go over his Sophomore year, and why he seemed to have vanished just out of nowhere.
  4. The VHLM Goalie lifted his hand as he rose with a recorder in hand ready to ask the Mississauga Hounds rookie some questions. "Andre, if you have a few more moments I'd like to ask you some more questions." He stated. "I'd like to ask. . . 1. It seems you have a short temper. Do you feel this will effect how you perform on the ice? 2. With only 2 Goals and 3 Assists what type of player are you looking to be? 3. If too many questions is bugging you why open a public forum for the Press Conference? 4. 3 Seconds into the match seems pretty quick for a fight. Is it more about sending a statement or did Vin really strike a nerve? 5. 25 PIM in 18 Games Played is roughly about 1 PIM. Do you think ref's are out to get you, or is it more of a feeling out process? 6. You average around 1.5 hits a game. If "Goon" isn't your role would it be more of an Enforcer type? 7. 1.5 Million is what you signed for, any ideas on what you're going to do with the money? 8. With almost 20 games under your belt, what would say is your greatest and worst trait on the ice? 9. Is there any form of your game that you will be working on heavily? 10. Is that a start of a rivalry between you and Vin? That's all I have for you today." He says.
  5. A game called Third Eye Hockey. They have their own custom engine but making textures for it and getting rendered is pretty painless
  6. It was fun making one for Halifax, figured I'd make one for you guys as well 2D Flat: 3D Render:
  7. 1. Looking back, what was your favorite moment from the season (even if you're a new player)? I didn't have a favorite moment this year. I dropped the ball this season and will work three times as hard next season to pick it up 2. How do you think the Halifax 21st will fare next year due to a good chance of getting a high draft pick? As long as I don't slack, and the new kids we pick up work extra hard I'd say we got a shot 3. Do you have any advice for upcoming draftees or free agent signings for next year? Don't fall behind like I did 4. Who do you think is going to win the VHL and VHLM playoffs this year? Not a clue, but good luck to those that win. It's always hard to say who for sure will win because ANYTHING can happen in hockey 5. What are your hopes for next year? Playoff team? Any personal stat goals? I want to go to the playoffs, Save % over .850 and a GAA below 3 6. Who is the best AGM in all of the VHLM, and why is it @twists? He's a very patient AGM, and has worked with me through my inactive time
  8. 1] Is there any VHL team you want to play for? 2] How was the transition form Germany to Saskatoon 3] What is your strongest aspect on the ice 4] What is your weakest aspect on the ice 5] Who is your favorite team mate? 6] Are you currently happy with how your team is doing?
  9. 1. Do think you consider yourself VHL ready? 2. If there was a stat you could lead, which one would you want to see your name be number one in? 3. What's your weakest aspect on the ice? 4. What's your strongest aspect on the ice? 5. Favorite team to play against? 6. Your favorite way to earn TPE?
