jRuutu 2,469
Jim Bob pictured in a Albanian monster rally event Jim Bob LW | 6' 4" | 231 lb VHLM Drafted: 7th Overall (S70) by Ottawa Lynx Bob joined San Diego at the end of S69 to get a feel on VHLM hockey, played 27 games, scored 2 goals and 13 assists for 15 points. His physicality was noticeable right away, 87 hits in those 27 games. Many expected Bob to be taken in the first round during the S70 VHLM draft and that is what happened, Ottawa Lynx picked Bob 7th overall. So far in 33 games, Bob has 8 goals and 46 assists with 148 hits, so S70 has been a huge success for Bob and Ottawa. Statistics look promising, but what kind of player Jim Bob is? Let's take a look at some pros and cons! PROS Physicality As you can perhaps guess from the hit totals - Bob likes to hit and get into the dirty areas. When you combine such a big frame to above-average skating ability you are going to have a machine of a player and at least during the start to the S70 season that has been the case, second-most hits in the whole league. Puck Handling Likes to play simple hockey, but don´t let that fool you, Bob has solid hands. He knows how to use his big body to protect the puck and keep defending players away. There are not many players in VHLM who can push players like Bob around and that is one of the reasons for high assists totals - tough to get the puck away from Bob. Hard worker Bob is a player who gives his all in every shift, sometimes that goes over the line, but most of the time he plays hard but fair. Bob is the typical case of like him when he is in your team - hate him when you play against him. CONS Shooting accuracy When Bob is getting ready to shoot - look out! Shoots hard, but oh man is the shot inaccurate. If he could hit the net even 25% of the time - his goal totals would look a lot better. The positive side is that at least he knows how to make plays when the puck is on his stick, so the opposite team needs to respect him a little bit. Discipline Bob´s style of playing at 100% gets him into penalty minute trouble, 81 penalty minutes in 60 career VHLM games so far, mostly minor penalties, but you need to wonder at what point he should at least try to take it down a notch to reduce the odds on taking a penalty? Professionalism Still pretty new to the hockey world, very little experience on how to lead by example or how to make sure everybody around him is doing their best. Artist without the vision, likes to play around. Still needs a lot of work on the fine details on how to be a professional.
