Hextall outstanding play in the WJC

Reporter: The WJC has commenced and team Canada is as strong as you hope a country that worships hockey would be. There's no denying though that a big reason for their wins has been their goaltending. The tandem of Jaxx Hextall and Jacques Lafontaine is arguably the best of any WJC team. In Jaxx's 6 starts he faced 40 plus shots in each game, the team would win the first four and loose the next two, one of which went to over time. Hextall had identical performances in his first 2 games saving 42 shots out of 43 for a .977 save percentage in each game. Game 3 he would make 50 saves on 53 shots for a .943 save percentage and in game 4 he saved 42 out of 45 shots for a .933 save percentage. Games 5 and 6 would be tough losses for team Canada with Hextall saving 35 of 41 and 38 of 41 in a over time loose to Europe. In these six games Hextall has seen 266 shots go towards his net and saved 249 of them, he currently sits with a .936 save percentage. We were able to get a quote from draft rival Jacques Lafontaine, "Yeah, Hextall has been phenomenal, both in the Minors right now and in the World Juniors. He makes a crap ton of saves and is just a big factor to our success right now." Of course Jacques started game 7 and 8 and would win both and has a .938 save percentage. The WJC is now going into the medal rounds and Canada has a very real chance at winning it.
