ColeMrtz 574
Last season New York went on a tear that ultimately pulled their season out of the gutter and brought them into a much more serious conversation about contention. Well New York decided that should become tradition because they've gone and done something similar again. Remind me why I AGM for the most stressful team to watch in the league. Anyways, GAME 203 14-16-5 0-0-0 A close battle against DC kicks New York down to roughly .500%, a season that had been considered by most below average for the roster New York has. Although not quite as grim as last seasons 9-16-8 record, the addition of star players like McWolf and the breakout of Nolan and Jensen should have propelled this team much further. So albeit a better position to land in than last season, the amount the team had developed made this mark highly concerning. GAME 227 17-17-5 3-1-0 Although 3 wins is big for a struggling team, the case can be made that these particular wins don't really show much of a shift. With wins against Malmo, DC and Seattle the only team that truly stands out as a contender is the defending champs. Meanwhile the loss comes against Vancouver, arguably the strongest roster in the league at the moment and it wasn't a pretty game to watch, getting shut out while Vancouver put away 4. Nonetheless the turnaround started here, so the article will start here as well. GAME 257 21-18-5 7-2-0 This is the first truly significant series, through five games the Americans played Vancouver once, Moscow twice and Seattle twice. This is the real competition and New York showed they came to play, securing wins against all three teams and only losing to Seattle once. Taking two games from Moscow is no easy task, as they currently sit 4 points ahead of the second place Vancouver, a team that is 9 points far and away from third. Taking a 4-1 series against top teams is a true awakening for the Americans and truly starts to propel them upwards. GAME 304 27-18-6 13-2-1 The boys have come alive and through a 7 game stretch only drop a single game, and even that was in OT. An interesting blend of teams, New York faced off against Malmo, Prauge, Seattle, Prauge again, Helsinki, Davos and Vancouver. Picking teams from all over the map, surprisingly the game they dropped was against Malmo and not against some of the stronger competition like Vancouver and Seattle. Despite that this is the run the boys needed, pulling them into contention and putting them back on track to place high this season. GAME 29-20-7 15-4-2 The last stretch has been nothing special, a little spurt of .500% again but I don't expect that the Americans are done just yet. These upcoming 16 games will see how the Americans hold up, if they continue to strive and push further ahead or if the crumble and fall back into their ways. I am going to have a stroke by the end of the season at this rate. 511 Words Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/77746-business-as-usual/ Share on other sites
