ROOKIE745 617
As always I'm doing my article at the end of the week and it's theme week. I took a look at the S70 draft class and looked at the goalies of the draft and I think only I (Hextall) and Lafontaine have a shoot at the Hall of Fame. Lafontaine of course was drafted 4th overall by Calgary and I was drafted 9th by Davos but as most of you know I was traded to the Legion. (thank you peace) The next goalie drafted was in the 3rd round at 27th overall by the Nighthawks, and they haven't been very activate to boot. Lets start with a look at Jacques Lafontaine as I do think he has the better shoot. Lafontaine has already been in the VHL for a whole season now, kinda hard to believe huh? However he's been the back up the whole season and only played the required 8 games, he got 6 wins, 1 loss and 1 overtime loss in those 8 games. He has a .916 save percentage with a 2.45 goals against average, not to bad and we know he'll only be better next season, but if he wants a shoot at the Hall of Fame he is gonna need to nab the started position soon and get way more starts next season. Other worthy achievements I think worth mentioning is he was on the season 69 winning Saskatoon Wild team that was an absolute power house and he won a silver medal at the World Junior's competition, again I don't think these should be overlooked. Now for yours truly, I believe I'll have an even harder time making the Hall of Fame. Peace gave me the choice to move up to the VHL but I decided not to. One Because we both knew Toronto Legion weren't gonna be very competitive for season 70, Two there was no way I was gonna catch up to Owen May so I'd more than likely be stuck as the back up and even then I don't think I would have gotten very many wins, and three because the team that drafted me in the VHLM has a shoot at winning the cup, I was basically a free upgrade from their already existing goalie Boris Boris who was my old teammate in Halifax. And hey we finished at the top of the standings in the regular season so I look forward to the playoffs, I feel I made the right choice to stay in the VHLM though. Thankfully I know when I move up to the VHL for season 71 I'll have a starter position waiting for me, I don't believe I'll hit the fabled 300 win mark as that would mean I would have to win about 43 games a season which is a pretty tall order. I know Toronto's roster will be much improved for the next season and I believe in Peace's plans for the team, I still very much believe I could get to 270-280 wins or at the very minimum 250 which is still very respectable, I'll just have to wait and see what the future has in store for me.
