Wolf Stansson, Jr. and the rest of his Prague teammates have hit some sort of a rut over their last 10 or so games. After being near the top of the pack, the Phantoms have fallen to right smack-a-dab in the middle of the wolf pack. Crazy how quickly things can change over a short time span. A large part of the factor behind this quick slide is Prague's goaltender switch from Brick Wahl to backup Solomon Crawford for the league-mandated 8 games minimum.

"It sucks, but it is what it is. The rule was created with good intentions - to allow the young active netminders to get some ice action while bidding their time behind established veterans. I totally get that. But man… it can really hurt teams. Like ours for instance, we were flying high, now we're not. Some of the other teams haven't yet to do this so they're bound for a regression. The thing is, we don't know when they're gonna do it. Some teams are smart, they strategize their backup games during weak points in the schedule while others get it out of the way in the beginning. We got ours out of the way… now we can get back to business with our MVP, Brick Wahl between the goal posts.

We had the league's best scoring defense with Wahl. Now that we've regressed to the mean, it's time to reclaim our stingiest defense spot. As for the rest of us - we're all still coming into work and doing our thing. Just got to score a little more and we should be good to go. But this brief switch does make me wonder… with Wahl retiring after this season, is Crawford truly our goaltender of the future? Results haven't been too good with him through the first three seasons. With most of our team hitting our peak, we cannot afford to take a significant step back next season, just because our goaltender isn't up to par. That's something for our team management folks to take in consideration."
