Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - Less than a week after being named to Team Canada for the World Junior Championships, goaltender Carter Fetterly has been released from Saskatoon. With the surprise signing of rookie goaltender Cal Conway, Fetterly’s roster spot was needed. Saskatoon GM McWolf addressed Fetterly’s lack of motivation as the reason for his release.

Fetterly posted a 4-1-1 record, 0.879 SV% and 3.87 GAA in 8 games with Saskatoon this season, respectable numbers for the VHLM. Showing up to the practice facility is a different story for Carter, however. “It’s kind of sad, he hasn’t been to practice for months”, said team captain Adam Frence. “It’s hard to improve if you don’t show up to practice”.

When asked for comment, former teammate and Team Canada winger Timothy Brown had this to say about Fetterly; “Our backup goalie isn’t even on a VHLM roster. It's kind of embarrassing”. With the World Juniors starting next week, goaltender Woody Mcpine is expected to get most of the starts for Canada.
