Downey in Terrible Rut, Team Succeeding Otherwise

Vancouver, British Columbia – After a strong first half of the year Vancouver Wolves defenseman Jeff Downey has fallen on hard times stats wise for the Wolves. While the Wolves continue to win and have a decent lead for top spot in the Victory Hockey League currently Downey has only managed to put up two points in his past 12 games. Stretch that to 21 games and it is 9 points, with four of those coming in one game. That means that other than that big game he has 5 points in 20 games, a far cry from his early pace.

‘To say it has been frustrating is an understatement. While we have continued to win and that is of course the number one goal for me as a player, I feel like I could be doing so much more for this team to make them better. All I’ve done in training is try and make myself a better player and along the way I have broken something. Eventually I hope it will turn around but if me playing like this still gets us a championship run I am willing to make that sacrifice.’
