DrHexDex 68
We’re part with the second part of our three part write up covering Hex Valentine. Yesterday we went over his rookie year, and how he stacked up with the other goalies and teams. We dove deep into his stats, and tried to figure out what he did wrong. Tonight we go over what happened to him in his sophomore season and why he suddenly disappeared.“I really wanted to keep this quiet, because I don’t think any excuse is good enough on why you let your team down.” Hex told us for his opening statement. “But I guess it’s only fair to my team and the fans about what happened. I ended up having a death in the family and it really hit me hard. My head just wasn’t in the right mind set. I lost my older brother, one of my biggest motivators, my biggest fan, and the best coach I had. He helped point out what I would do wrong in net every game and how to fix it.” Hex said as he had to take a few moments after telling us what happened to him.“He had Cystic Fibrosis, a very awful disease that has no cure and very little awareness. I made a promise to him this year that I would work harder than I ever had to help out not only my team but to myself as well. I will help this team to the playoffs and I will win a cup. I’m going to do it all for him.” Hex said as he finished up his statement. He had a cold second year that wasn’t much to look at in terms of how he played.Hex finished his Sophomore year in the VHLM going 17-36-4 as opposed to his rookie year where he went 20-50-2. Here is what he lead in, in stats for his Sophomore year (Season 71):Wins - 9th GP 57 Wins 17Losses - 3rd GP 57 Losses 36OT Losses - 4th GP 57 OTL 4Save % - 9th GP 57 SV% 0.894Goals Against - 4th GP 57 GA 251Shots Against - 3rd GP 57 SA 2368Assists - 9th GP 57 Assists 2Penalty Minutes - 4th GP 57 PIM 4It’s terrible for a player to regress in their 2nd season. We can only hope for his sake and for Halifax’s he will be able to bounce back. Otherwise he might find himself on the long road of Free Agency which can pretty much mean curtains for any player in the VHLM depending on how they end up there. “Thank you for taking the time with me so I could finally tell my team, the fans, and the VHLM on what happened. I know most will sympathize with me about why I took a break I can only hope to move forward and work five times harder than I ever had. I refuse to be a dead weight to this team, and to the league.” Hex said as his closing statement.Thank you all for reading the second part of this three part write up for Hex Valentine. When we return we will go over how he’s doing so far this season and what he plans on doing to make sure he can be a valuable asset to the 21st.
