Helsinki Titans Give Fans More Time to Evaluate Prospects

Helsinki, Finland.

In a bizarre fashion to start the season, the Helsinki Titans have taken 7 of their first 13 games to extra time. This includes a shootout thriller that watched newly appointed team captain, Vojczek Svoboda net the game winner against consensus league favorite New York Americans. Their other win, was at the hands of Jake Wylde, who potted the Overtime winner against Calgary after Godvari Y-longname (Glasser term) ran the goalie to put the Titans on a OT Power Play.

Helsinki fans have had a lot to cheer about so far this season. Goaltender Kimmo Salo has been hot off the start and has caught the league's attention. Veterans Reggie Dunlop and Teemu Lehtinen are also making their case as valuable trade deadline additions for playoff teams. Wylde and Svoboda are proving their worth, as to why they were selected so high Svoboda 1st overall, and Wylde was a prospect who landed the prestigious franchise tag.

The Titans have been able to push 7 games to overtime, but what is even more impressive is the fact that they are doing this with a rather unimpressive roster. They have been labelled as a team that battles, and no team goes into Helsinki looking for an easy win to pad their stats. Seattle, New York, Vasteras, and Riga are all playoff teams who took more than three period to finish off the Titans (if they were able to).

While it is hard to get too optimistic only 13 games into the season - the Titan fans are grabbing onto any sliver of hope after last seasons horrific display.
