ShawnGlade 1,010
Shawn Glade III As a youth, SG3 played in the Quebec International Pee-Wee hockey tournament and won the tourney as a seven year-old with his minor hockey team, the Halifax Hawks. As his father was moved to different teams, SG3 finally landed in Minnesota for middle school and highschool, dreaming to one day play in the state highschool hockey tournament. SG3 attended Edina highschool in Minnesota, where he was able to play in the state tournament. Glade lit up the scene, as he scored 21 points in 7 games as Edina captured the state title. After this season, he joined the USNTDP after his father and grandfather did the same. He played in the USHL for 3 years before committing to the Boston University Terriers. There, he played only three seasons, leading all defensemen in points and being named the top freshman in D1 his first year. He was named to the Hockey-East all freshman team that season, but was eventually left off of the USA WJC team. His next two seasons, SG3 was named captain of BU, and was an assistant captain on the WJC both times he made it, however didn't medal in either run. In his freshman year, SG3 scored the winning goal in OT to win the beanpot for the Terriers, their 30th time winning it. In his Junior year, the Terriers made it to the frozen four, but were eventually knocked out by the UVM Catamounts. SG3 finished his college career with 64 goals and 120 assists in 124 games. Despite declaring for the VHLM draft, SG3 took a year to play overseas, in the SHL with the Växjö Lakers, with whom he won the Le Mat trophy with that year. He led the team in goals and points, and was subsequently named defenseman of the year in the league that season. Despite having a monster year in Sweden, SG3 decided to head back to North America to continue his career in the VHLM. It was there that he signed a playoff deal with the Minnesota Storm, his boyhood team. The Storm were eliminated in the first round, but SG3 had gotten a little taste of VHLM action. After working hard all summer to come back and dominate in the VHLM, he was taken in the 3rd round, and had fallen much farther than critics expected. However, he was taken by the Mississauga Hounds and continues to thrive there today.
