The Toronto Sun – We are Legion

The Victory Hockey League is embroiled in a blood bath tradition in the great game of hockey. The Playoffs for the continental and challenger cups respectfully are being fought over by 16 teams who want nothing more then to be called Champion. One of these teams is located in the Minors system called the Saskatoon Wild, which holds one of the Toronto Legions prospects Left Winger Adam Frence. Toronto used there 28th pick on the French Winger after an explosive season tallying 90+ points. Earning him the nod from the General Manager Rylan Peace. Who seemed eager to move up in the draft. Making him a trade that put him in the position to acquire Frence.

The outspoken winger had a less then productive season this year when you compare it to last, however this year was more about team play as Frence mentioned. “I unfortunately was not asked to be captain again this season but that was because I became complacent. I did not have that drive after the draft thinking I was good enough to just make the jump. The Legions Training Camp was a huge eye opener for me. It showed me that its very much about Team Play and not an individual performance. So, after speaking with the General Manager we agreed another year would make sense, I came back to Saskatoon and just focused on helping the team anyway I can”

This led to the Saskatoon Wild General Manager McWolf to place Frence on the 4th line as punishment for most of the season. Once Frence’s attitude changed he was promoted and started helping the team round off their regular season where they took second in their conference. With a record of 54-12-6.  Now that the playoffs have begun and the Wild have unleashed their warriors, we have seen Adam Frence unleash the beast within carrying the team to a 3-1 series lead. After being paired with former line mate Kazimir Komarov they began what they started last season.  Adam Frence has netted 8 points in these playoffs tied for first on the team as watching him play the Legion scouts mentioned his speed and poise while on the ice in key moments. Having 2 game winning goals securing 2 of the 3 wins when they needed someone badly Frence showed up.

From the people I have talked to appears to be Auditioning for the Toronto Legion showing them exactly how he can be used. We caught up with his agent former player Alex Kachur “He (Frence) is hungrier now then I have ever seen him. He had a few dark months as there was some family issues, that affected his mood and game but make no mistake you will be hearing his name a lot in Toronto. These playoffs will prove exactly the caliber of player Frence is” the Winger wits with 5 goals and 3 assists in 8 games so far. So much that the General Manager Rylan Peace spoke with us about the possibility of Frence in the future with the Legion.

I think Frence brings some stability to the roster. He comes in at a time where we're losing a few players; Matthews to retirement, Scoringsonn to free agency, Wolfe to free agency and Dissanayake to essentially retirement (even though he converted to D). With Joseph Gainer joining the roster next season as well, both he and Frence should make it on the second forward line assuming we have no free agent signings during the off-season.

Only time will tell if the 28th overall pick will out play his position and prove that he deserves to be in the league and that his name will be remembered.

Review: This is a good media spot. The writing is solid and it's great to hear about how Adam Frence is doing in the minors. Good job on choosing pictures and visuals. I really like the idea of having the quotes coloured in to help represent the different people. In my opinion though, the colour yellow should not really be used for the quotes as I personally think it's too bright. But then again, that's just my opinion on it. There are a few punctuation and general grammar errors like how one of the quotes is missing punctuation before it. Another quote is missing a period at the end of it. Also, another thing that you might want to look into is finding places where two sentences could really be one. For example, "...they took second in their conference. With a record of 54-12-6." and "Earning him the nod from the General Manager Rylan Peace. Who seemed eager to move up in the draft. Making him a trade that put him in the position to acquire Frence." Other than that, it was well written.
