jpsd 77
Jesper Norberg - Prospect Scouting Report 5'10" - 175 lb. - 25 y/o Jesper Norberg is a right winger currently playing for the Saskatoon Wild of the VHLM after being picked by them in the dispersal draft. His first season in the VHLM was a short one, being picked uo by Halifax and later traded to Las Vegas. Despite not having an incredible first season with 6 points, 2 goals, and 4 assists in 26 games, he improved all the way through and is now looking to make a much bigger impact for them in the upcoming season. He looks to be drafted in the middle of the second round of the upcoming VHL draft but will stay down for a season to play with Saskatoon and continue to improve before making his VHL debut. Pros Shooting: Norberg has an powerful shot that gives him the ability to hit the back of the net, he was only able to get 2 goals this season but luckily he was still taking shots and he has the confidence to do so. He has a strong shot and just has a few things to improve with that until he starts lighting up the net. Passing: Norberg's passing was not fully on display in Las Vegas, but he is still very good at play-making. He has a strong sense that allows him to make difficult passes and effective ones. He is more confident in his shooting then passing however, and that shouldn't be the case as he is equally effective at both. He needs to trust himself and his teammates in order for him to improve even more in his passing game. This is something scouts should not look at as a major issue as it should be easy for him to fix the trust in his own passing. Puck handling: Despite not trusting his ability to make passes, it is clear to see that he is very confident when he has control of the puck. He is great at carrying the puck out of his own end and protecting while taking it up the ice. His ability to carry and protect the puck well allows him to create space for himself and his teammates to make plays. With such a good ability to handle the puck it is exciting to think how good he could be offensively if he keeps improving in other aspects like skating and passing. Cons Defense: Norberg has holes in his game, like any player, and right now the biggest hole appears to be in his defense. Whether it is a poor sense in his own end or his willingness to make defensive plays is hard to tell, perhaps it is both. Either way there is something there that he needs to fix before he transitions to the VHL. Strength: He has a very average frame and along with that he is not very strong at the moment. By gaining more muscle he would be able to use that to leverage opponents off the puck more effectively which could improve his defensive game, it could also improve his ability to protect the puck to a level even better than it is already. Summary Norberg is a player who is mostly effective in the offensive zone but still looks to improve in that end. He has a few holes that need to be fixed in his defense as well as a few confidence issues in his passing despite being able to make tricky passes. With a few improvements in some of these aspects Norberg could become a major offensive threat and a star player in the VHL. 585 words Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/87174-jesper-norberg-scouting-report/ Share on other sites
