After months of media silence, Ricky Johnson has welcomed the VHL press to a quick sit down interview in the D.C. Dragons locker room following a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Wolves. Little time was wasted in getting to pick Johnson’s brain:

Press: “So Johnson what’s it like playing your 5th season in the VHL?“

Johnson: “It’s not been bad, but not great. I don’t have much to show for it as of right now. It’s disheartening but I’m working towards become a better player. Not just for myself, but for the team as well”

Press: “What are your thoughts on D.C. start to the season?”

Johnson: “Simply put, we need to do better. It looks like we’re finally hitting our stride with this win. Hopefully we can keep it going. We’re a solid team and it’s time to display that more than just saying it”

Press: “Last question here. So we’re dying to know. Why the media silence?”

Johnson: “Truth be told I needed some time to myself. The pressure I felt I was receiving from the interviews was become too much. I felt it was effecting my game. I’ve come to terms with it though and realize that this was my best way to connect to all my fans out there rooting me on. So I apologize to all of you, especially them. I’m back.”

Currently having a points total of 12 in 18 games, Johnson is hoping to make a meaningful impact for the Dragons as they try to bounce back from what was a disappointing year.
