Fire Tortorella 2,653
BOTH GOWS OFF TO DISAPPOINTING SEASONS It’s been a season to forget for Riga Reign forwards Robin Gow and Robert Gow III. From both an individual and team perspective, the duo have not been as successful as they thought they would be during the pre-season. After adding star players Kameron Taylor and Malcom Spud to the team during the Season 37 trade deadline, the Reign were able to defeat the Vasteras Iron Eagles in the first round of the playoffs, but fell to HC Davos Dynamo in the Conference Finals. With a full season of Taylor and Spud, as well as the progression of many of their young players, the Reign were expected to be top contenders in the European Conference. However, that has not been the case. With twenty points more than the fourth place Cologne Express, Riga’s playoff spot is pretty secure, but they still trail the second place Iron Eagles by ten points and the first place Dynamo by thirteen. Much of the blame for the team’s failure falls at the feet of the Gows. Coming into Season 38, Robin Gow was ready to take the next big step in becoming one of the top centers of the league. After an 86 point season, many of Robin’s supporters thought that breaking the 90 point barrier was close to guaranteed this season. Not only is it all but guaranteed that this won’t happen this year, but with 40 points in 43 games, Robin is pacing to only 67 points, which would tie his point total in his rookie season. “I just don’t know what’s up this season,” remarked Robin. “I’ve had shitty puck luck. I think I’m shooting what, like 6% on the season? It’s awful. I feel like I’ve improved by game each season, yet the results aren’t showing. It’s frustrating to say the least, but at this point, it is what it is. If we were winning a little more, my personal disappointment would be easier to swallow, but with how we’re playing this season, it all just sucks ass.” On the topic of sucking ass, let’s talk about Robert Gow III. While Robin may be having a disappointing season, RGIII is failing on an epic proportion. Through 43 games this season, RGIII has all of 15 measly points, even less than rookie Johan Hallstrom and defenseman Phil Villenueve, who isn’t exactly known for his offensive prowess. “I’m just awful at this point. Terrible, terri-awful, whatever you want to call it. I’ve done everything from changing my lucky underwear, some giraffe magic, and changing my pre-game routine, but none of it has worked. I’ve sucked all season, and it sucks. I may have to go steal some of Phil Rafter’s gloves or something from the Hall of Fame and see if some of his goal scoring greatness can rub off on me. The only positive I can take from this is that in Season 35, I was pretty bad during the regular season, but I picked it up in the playoffs and the Lynx ended up winning the Founder’s Cup. I can only hope that this is how our story ends this season.” Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/8884-claimedboth-gows-off-to-disappointing-seasons/ Share on other sites
Guest Svoboda_3
Content: 3/3 527 words. Great discussion about the struggles of the Gow brothers plus the Reign, who are trailing in the standings. The writing was exceptional and had excellent flow. It was surely a treat to read.Grammar: 2/2 Two small hyphen thingies 86 point season = 86-point season 90 point = 90-point Appearance: 1/1 Looked very Riga-escOverall: 6/6 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/8884-claimedboth-gows-off-to-disappointing-seasons/#findComment-82101 Share on other sites
