He was with them for five seasons after being drafted by them 22nd overall and quickly grew into a fan favourite. Sigard was the heart and soul of the team, even wearing the C for the Wranglers. Calgary Wranglers fans were heartbroken to hear that the Los Angeles Stars took him in the Expansion Draft, where he ended up leading the league in points with an amazing point total of 119 points with the Stars. It was a sad goodbye for Calgary. However, it turns out that the goodbye was very short-lived as this season, Sigard Gunnar has returned to Calgary. One person who was especially excited was Jacques Lafontaine. The goaltender had developed quite the friendship with Sigard, the Wranglers equivalent of David Rittich and Matthew Tkachuk. When asked about the acquisition of Sigard Gunnar, Lafontaine reportedly screamed “Sigard Gunnar is back” over and over again before being dragged away by two members of the Wranglers.
