fishy 1,757
ignore the wrong logo, I don't know how to make graphics Name: Matty Socks Age: 21 Country: Canada Position: Defense Matty Socks has just finished up his last season in the VHLM and is looking forward to the contributions he can make to the Chicago Phoenix, a growing expansion team. He’s looking forward to working with his teammates to bring this team off the ground. With strong teammates, like Christian Mingle and Squirrely dan, in addition to a goalie who performed well last season, Matty Socks believes that the combined talents of all his teammates will be able to push Chicago closer to contending for a playoffs spot. Pros Defense: Socks’s number one priority is keeping his goalie’s job easy. This is clear in the way that he defends the net and pulls back from his offensive movement to help give extra coverage in his own zone. Teamwork: In the same vein as his skills in defense, Socks has a bigger idea about how to win the game than just scoring the most goals. His strategy is to make sure his teammates are in the best possible situation to get the goal and put points on the board, even if it’s not him. His assists reflect the effort he puts into working with his teammates to get the job done. Locker room contribution: Socks makes it a priority to connect with his teammates on and off the ice - if you can’t trust your teammates, you can’t win the game. He puts in effort engage with his teammates to play a better game. Cons Physicality: Socks is not the type of defenseman to take a dish a hit, which makes him an easy target. With LVA in his first season, he had 91 hits. As he developed his other skills, though, his hits dropped. He clearly doesn’t rely on checking to push him forward, rather on his skating abilities. Strength: Socks stays light on his feet, moves the puck quick, and assists his teammates where he can, but again, it’s clear that he has time to spend working on building his body to work more for his advantage. In order for his season with the Phoenix to pan out, Socks is going to have to continue putting in the same, if not more, work into his skills. For his rookie season, Socks should be focusing more on building his strength and further improving his defensive strategy. Relying on his teammates to pick up his slack simply won’t cut it this season, and he’s ready for the challenge.
