Emi 229
Emi Rune - D - #21 - VHL Drafted: 4th Overall (S74) || VHLM Drafted: 24th Overall (S73) Birthplace: Sheffield, England Age: 18 Height: 6"0' Weight: 168lbs Handedness: Right NHL Comparison: Quinn Hughes Overview Emi joined the league at the end of Season 72 where she joined the Saskatoon Wild. In her first stint with the team she didn't put up a single goal or assist in 9 games with the team. The team did manage to go on a post season run which led to her first point of her career in the VHLM where she put up 2 assist in 18 games as the Wild went on to win the championship that season. She entered the up coming draft and was brought back within the Saskatoon orginisation when they selected her 24th overall. In the 1 full season with the team she put up 10 goals, 64 assists and 74 points in 72 games with the orginisation. She was on the Powerplay where most of her goals came from where she put up an impressive 9 goals. She was a point a game player for the team that season before entering the S74 draft. She was ranked as high as 3 on some draft boards and as low as 15th on some others so the potential for her to rise or fall was always dependent on team needs. Early boards had her going to London before they traded that pick away to Vancouver and she eventually ended up playing for that orginisation this coming S74 season. PROS Passing - In her only season with the team she nearly have 1 assist per game. She was the main engine of the teams plays and made sure to make those arounds her better as she dished out the puck to other players. She continued this good run of the form in the playoffs too where she put up 4 assists. She has always been known as one for passing the puck with pinpoint accuracy. Skating - Rune is a strong and confident skater, she used this to her advantage when coming up against those more physically minded players. She will make sure to get out of there way by bursts of speed and flair. This has helped her with being a smaller framed player as she cannot rely on her physicality like some of the more typical defenders found within the league.Discipline - Throughout her time in the VHL she put up a total of 16 PIMs. This shows outstanding discipline and reading of the plays, she tries to stay out of the box as this is where she is most useful to the team. She took a measly 38 hits throughout her career but these didn't result in her becoming a detriment to her team by being stuck in the box. This is good as she was one of the cornerstones of a defense in her time with Saskatoon. Hockey IQ - Due to the way Rune plays she relies more on her IQ than her stregnth. This has led to her being one of the best players to be able to read the flow of the game and give out commands to her fellow teammates. The managment team in Saskatoon agreed with this as they made her Assistant Captain where she led the team from the back and made sure everyone knew what was about to happen and what way to go. This led to her having a good +/- by the end of the season as she was on the ice a lot when the team scored. CONS Physicallity - As mentioned already she isn't someone who plays that phsyical game. She put up a measly 38 hits in the minors which for a defender is pretty pretty low. As a result those looking for a player who is physical should look elsewhere. Her small size and weight adds to her reasons to staying away from this style of play and as a result she can be pushed around on the blueline a bit. Folds under pressure - She has shown that she does not deal well in big game situations in the playoffs in S73. She didn't show up in the final Saskatoon game and didn't play well over the entire playoffs. As a result her play really hurt the team in those high octaine game. This is something that can be improved with experience and hopefully something she will develop more with time. Raw - Her skill set is really based around what she is currently doing and hasn't been built to help a certain team. As a result her talent is very raw and it is there however if not developed correctly she could become one of the next big flops in the league. Room for improvement Scoring - As mentioned before she put up 10 goals in her season with the Wild with most of them coming from the Powerplay. This is something that is currently good but with the right training we could see a 15-20 goal a season player out of this player.
