Kevin King (VHL), Jensen Novak (EFL), and Oliwer McNair (EFL) are alone at the helm this week as Moose tends to his mother, who returned home from the hospital today. She is said to be in stable condition and it is not said to be covid related, nor a result from another seizure. Moose has asked that we not press any further on her condition but to let everyone know that she is okay and he will be back to activity following this round of updates.

It’s a blow for the agency in a crunch time, however. With McNair & Novak of the EFL only receiving an update of +3 this week and for the first time since joining the league, King is in danger of taking a loss as well. It’s a real-life issue that obviously takes precedence over the life of the league but it’s damaging for players who recently took a hit in a tough loss in the ECFA Championship Game and have had a tough road already. Novak played well in the final stretch of the season but couldn’t push his team over the edge in the title fight. He’ll be a focus in his sophomore year as he continues to develop, hopefully with Moose back at the helm. McNair was a beast and consistent all season as a linebacker for Trenton and shouldn’t be deterred even by the stumble in points. He’s expected to be a top defender next season and should begin that grind this week as the offseason progresses.

For King, it’s another setback on what feels like just a career grind. His 11 points in 23 games to this point are good for second worst on the team. An 18-point gap separates him from the top of the rookie scoring race, leaving his ROTY hopes as nothing more than a pipe dream. His first full season as the AGM for the San Diego Marlins is what their record shows, a team without a team. With so few players in the lineup, it’s a struggle on and off the ice to get anything going. It’s something covered in Moose’s media spot for this week:

For now we hope Moose’s mother is okay, and we will have any developments available here as soon as they become available.
