Recommended Posts

In todays article, I think it would be fun to look at the top 5 players that have played the most amount of games in VHL history. I am fairly new to the league, so this gives me the opportunity to make some research and just learn about this great place with call the VHL.

These rankings are place from the least amount of games to the most amount of games, let us start!

5. C. Franchise Cornerstone (576 games)

At the number 5 spot, he is statistically the best out of the 5 players on this list. With 8 seasons under his belt and only playing for Helsinki, Franchise has accumulated 384 goals and 471 assists for 855 pts in total. Those are some impressive numbers, but he is also a 3-time Continental champion, was deemed the best Two-way forward in Season 59 and 60 and has also achieved being the VHL MVP 3 times in his illustrate career.

4. C. Gritty (577 games)

The 6-foot 3, 197lbs, Gritty exemplifies what it means to be just a solid all-around player. No shots at Gritty at all but being this type of player is always needed in a great group to be a championship team. He may not be the superstar you are looking for, but he is more than capable of showing great glimpses of offence and defense. He has a career total points of 403. He is also a 2-time Continental champion so in that regard, I call that a sweet career.

3. C. Rauno Palo (577 games)

Drafted 4th overall in Season 62, Rauno is tied with Gritty for the most games in the history of the VHL. In his 4 first seasons he got respectively in order, 42, 40, 49 and 66 points. Then in his second year in Vancouver he exploded with an 83 points season. Then the year after he got an even better season with 46 goals and 64 assists for a total of 110 points. His best year arguably in Season 67 which he was a total beast. Not only did he win the Continental Cup with Vancouver, he also won the Mike Szatkowski Trophy, the Scotty Campbell Trophy, the Brett Slobodzian Trophy and the Alexander Beketov Trophy. What a year it was and a successful career overall.

2. LW. Julius Freeman  (577 games)

Playing 8 seasons total and 6 for Vancouver, he was won his only Continental Cup in his second year. Freeman in his whole career achieved a total of 286 goals, 307 assists for 593 points. He has won some individual awards such as the Kevin Brooks Trophy which is “Awarded to the player who leads the VHL in goals at the end of the regular season”. Nice career overall and let’s move on to the man who has played the most amount of games.

1. D. Konstantin Mulligan (578 games)

The only D-man on this list is the man who has played the most amount of games in the VHL. Playing for 5 different teams in his 8-year long career. The 6-foot 8 Ireland monster has achieved 73 goals and 178 assists in 578 games. He may have played the most amount of games on this list, but he has never won any team awards or any individual awards. But it is nothing to be ashamed of because at least he has played the most amount of games out of any players.
