Toronto nabs a playoff spot, Hextall leading the way

The Toronto Legion have earned them selves a playoff spot, yes you read so correctly. After a terrible start of 1-9-1 the team has massively turned it around, thanks not only to the players not giving up but GM Peace making the changes when he had to, changing up the lineup when he needed to and just shifting the strategy around. What was perhaps one of the most frustrating aspects for the Legion was just how many games they lost by one goal and Hextall blamed himself the hardest for that. "If I could have just made one more save, at least brought the game to overtime or even manage to steal us a win, it would have helped so much. But you can't undo the past, I up'd my game and now look at us, grab us a playoff spot." Hextall has indeed stepped up his game. He sits just outside the top ten in terms of wins but he has played the least amount of games, tying with Lafontaine in that regard who has 31 wins, Hextall sits at 27.

 

Hextall's record right now is 27-23-7, not bad at all but when asked he did say he'd like to end the season with more wins than total loses, so both in regulation and overtime. Hextall is currently putting up some of the best numbers of his career, sitting at a .920 save percentage and 2.74 goals against. He's only got 2 shutouts so far but it doesn't bother him to much since he says wins are the most important. The Legion sit with 73 points in 63 games, the Dragons right under them sit at 72 points in 67 games and right under them his Calgary at 71 points in 65 games, the next team after is behind by 10 points so it's likely he know for sure who's making the playoffs. With the Wolves leading the pack at 83 points Hextall could possibly see both his rivals this playoffs, when asked he had this to say. "I'd love to do battle with the both of them, our time is short in the VHL and I wanna battle these guys in the playoffs, where we're playing at an even higher level."
