The series between the 1st and 8th seed in the VHLM has gotten off to a very interesting start. Halifax, whom many are considered the favorites to win it all this year, were expected by many to get by Miami with ease. Some even suggesting a sweep. However it's clear that certain scenario will not be happening as Miami and Halifax have split there first 2 games. Game 1 was a thrilling 5-4 overtime win for Miami while game 2 was a cake walk for the 21st. Miami showed through the first two games the type of tenacity and grit you'd expect for an underdog, the question is can they keep that intensity consistently enough to get past Halifax. The first game saw Miami squeak by Halifax in OT despite Halifax managing to out hit, out shot and win more faceoffs than there opposition. The key to winning the first game for Miami was timely goal scoring and outstanding goaltending by S75 draft eligible goalie Rara Rasputin. Halifax managed to score the first goal only to be bombarded with 3 unanswered goals before the end of the 1st. Halifax then rallied back in the second to tie the game at 3-3. In the third Miami still came out hungry as they took the lead just 5 minutes into the period only to have the lead erased 4 minutes later. the second half of the period flew by with out a goal meaning Miami had shockingly taken the 1st seed to overtime. And finally, with just over a minute into overtime Peter Louis ll managed to coral a loose puck of a missed shot and find the back of the net. In the second game It was far more one sided, again Halifax took the lead early with Miami tieing it shortly after, this time though it would be Halifax who answered as they managed to hold the lead for the rest of the game. Nevertheless, This series looks to be far from expected and could become a very intriguing matchup to keep an eye on.
