Artair McCloud Prospect Scouting Report

Name: Artair McCloud

Position: RW

VHLM Team: Las Vegas Aces

So, with the regular season finished and the playoffs well and truly under way its time to look forward to the upcoming VHL draft and its prospects. Well one prospect in particular, the Sniping Scotsman, Artair McCloud. He played in the VHLM this past season with the Las Vegas Aces on their 3rd line, along with fellow prospects Nero Endrizzi and Kelly Power. Playing limited ice time on a stacked Vegas roster, McCloud bagged 6G and 4A for 10P, including a powerplay goal, the most out of the bottom 6 forwards on the roster. So there’s a brief look at his overall stats for this past season, let’s have a more in depth look at his strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths

Work Ethic – McCloud has an amazing work ethic and is always striving to make improvements to his game and can adjust his game in order to the role he needs to play on his team. He started out as an out and out offensive talent but after joining the Aces this season, he made improvements to his defensive zone game in order to suit the role he plays on his team.

Received Good Coaching – Artair played with the Aces this last season, which means he has had a season under the expert guidance of GM Spartan and AGM Jiggs so you know your getting a player who knows his way around the league and is going to be constantly active in trying to better himself in order to help his team. He has also spent time in the infamous Vegas locker room which is known league wide for being very active and having high amounts of positive energy. It’s just that extra factor that he can bring to your team that’s not displayed through stats.

Shooting - Despite only putting up 6G this year in VHLM, you best believe McCloud as one hell of a wicked wrister. We seen glimpses of it in the earlier stages of this season. If he can find a way to utilise this shot more and more, he could become an absolute goal machine.

Weaknesses

Point Producing – Obviously, his stats this season were a tad underwhelming. 10P in 60 odd games leaves a lot to be desired and this is likely to put off some teams from drafting him. He does have another year of eligibility in the VHLM in which he is liking to be receiving increase ice time on the Aces roster, which will likely see an increase in this point production. But, if you are willing to stick with him and give him the time to develop as a player, you could be very well rewarded with a hard-working, point producing player

Consistency - Its the main component that was really lacking from his game, that ability to get his name on the scoresheet week in, week out. I think this is something that will come with time and he will be able to add it to his game but again, like his lack of points, if you give him the time ad the opportunity, he will be able to turn those around and you could have yourself an absolute steal.

With McCloud's lack of point production this season, he could drop to the later rounds of the draft and would be shocked if he went undrafted. So if you want a steal on draft day, pick Artair McCloud.
