sterling 1,997
The New York Americans have staked their claim to the Victory Cup after running through the regular season early with a number of quality wins. As of late though, the team has struggled to string together consistent wins with the first line struggling to produce like they did earlier in the campaign. Some believe the team has peaked already and are doomed for a playoff upset, but the team is calm and confident heading into their bye time where they will await the winner of the Toronto Legion - Seattle Bears battle in the first round of the playoffs. Many of their games against these two teams haven't been pretty as of late, but the team has the skill to go head to head against any team in the VHL. "I think we have a great team here like I've said all year long, but we have to be careful. There are some really good other teams in the league so we'll have to play hard and not take a night off. I think this first round bye will be just what we need to rest and relax after the long season. I'm excited to see the other playoff action get under way, it should be really fun," sophomore American forward Tom Slaughter said.
