Hextall, Legion fall just shy of making the finals

Recommended Posts

Canada, British Columbia, Vancouver. - The Toronto Legion have fallen out of the playoffs, after going up to in the series 3-2 all they need was one more win to push them over the top to make it to the finals and face the Helsinki Titans. In game seven Jaxx Hextall faced 50 shots and saved 47 of them for a .940 save percentage, it's clear in the last game Hextall was trying his hardest to steal the game, or at least kept them in it, however the Legion offense just struggled to get them pass Jimmy Spyro who only faced 29 shots and saved 28 of them for a .966 save percentage.

It was no doubt a hard defeat to swallow for the team, the finals within their grasps. Their is concern for the future, Mcdagg is retiring, and 2 pieces of the core are facing the wear and tear of playing in the VHL, Magnum and Hextall are bound to feel it sometime during the offseason, and Killinger is likely to start feeling the effects after next season. Their is of course always some good news, they have the 13th overall pick and will have some new players joining the team. The playoff hopes for the team and fans shouldn't fade but it some will feel that this was their best shot with this core of players. Hextall also noted that he's frustrated that both times he faced his rivals, Lafontaine and Spyro that his team lost in a seven game series, but did say it makes it more memorable as well.
