iRockstar 307
Mikey Blade of the Riga Reign has been in the VHL now for four seasons, while also playing two in the VHLM and since his pro debut, he's been a little less than spectacular. His debut didn't go as planned after being called up by the Seattle Bears, scoring 25 goals and 38 assists for 63 points. While this was not what he wanted at all for his career, he kept his head high and decided to move on with his career while shrugging off the past, but the past continued to creep up on him as S36 was just as much a failure as the last with just 65 points to his name after playing another full season. Blade didn't know how to shrug it off, but it looked as though he finally hit his stride after being traded to the Reign. Just one season with the team got him a career high in goals (45) and assists (55) for a total of 100 points, putting him in the running for most improved player and even putting him in contention for a cup with the Reign. Of course everyone thought this would be the new Blade, including Blade himself, but unfortunately the glory could not last long enough. Now to the present, Blade has had his worst professional season since joining the league with 55 points. Blade commented immediately after the seasons end. "I've never felt so disappointed in myself as I do now. It's upsetting to not perform to my expectations but there is nothing I can do now, nothing I can change, the season is done and is history, and I'll just have to deal with it." It's obvious Blade is not happy about the season and is allowing it to beat him up quite a bit, so much so that it's been rumored that Mikey has even contemplated an early retirement. Despite his team rallying behind him, it could be that Blade will not finish out his contract or his full eight season career and have S39 be his last. If this were the case, Blade would surely cripple the Reign who have built their team around consecutive cup attempts, but it's not set in stone as of yet. All we can hope for is that S39 is a lot better than S38. Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/9465-blade-contemplates-future/ Share on other sites
