Name: Silas LeFriend

Height: 6'3''

Weight: 200lbs

Position: Defense

Team: Saskatoon Wild

Silas LeFriend is currently a defenseman for the Saskatoon Wild and has been since mid-season 75, where he was a waiver claim due to entering the league late. He will now be entering season 76 and hopefully playing a full season with the team. Here is a list of Silas LeFriend's strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths

Defensive Game

Silas prides himself in his defensive game, almost solely focusing on the defensive aspect of hockey. He knows that the less goals you cause against your team, the better the chances you have winning the game. Good defense is a good offense, as turnovers can sometimes be very deadly. His 43 blocked shots and 86 hits in 38 games speaks for itself.

Passing

Passing is a very strong aspect of Silas' game, as he is touted as a two-way defenseman. As strong as his defensive game may be, his first pass out of the zone and into his team in the neutral zone is always spot on. When he handles or has possession of the puck, he is always making the right play, or a play that has the least amount of chance to backfire on him and result in the opposing team gaining possession and scoring.

Skating

To be a great two-way defenseman and move the puck up the ice effectively, you must be able to skate pretty good. Silas has dedicated himself to improving his skating each year. Improving his skating usually means speed, agility, and acceleration. If he can get the first step on the opponent, then he's either going to carry the puck up, or be in a very good position to pass it to a teammate. His speed also helps him in the defensive zone too as he can usually keep up with the opposing team shooting down the ice with the puck, effectively boxing them out of the zone.

Weaknesses

Offensive Game

Silas isn't going to be putting up three and four points a night, or even a point for a game for that matter. You will most likely expect to see a thirty to fifty point guy with great defensive stats. He isn't going to quarter back your powerplay and move the puck, but will compliment nice. Silas is built to play on the penalty kill and kill penalties.

Strength

Silas isn't the strongest person on the team, nor will he ever be. What he lacks in physical strength, he usually makes up in mental fortitude and hockey IQ. He isn't going to be the one to check a guy through the glass, stand up for a teammate, drop the gloves when the team is down and needs a boost. He's a smart defensive player, not a strong physical guy who is going to run around and pick fights.

Leadership

Silas wasn't born to lead, but will speak when he has to. He is not the Captain type to keep the boys hyped and focused, while also leading them into battle. Silas is quiet and reserved and only speaks when he feels the need he has to speak.
