Peace 1,532
Toronto has an attack plan focusing on a quick retool instead of a four or five season long rebuild. The strategy isn't as effective as the 'nuke it' option both Vancouver and Riga have pulled in back to back entry drafts, selling their entire roster for first round selections in a single draft, and then loading up on young talent that'll earn; we want to be competitive by Jaxx Hextall's final season in seventy seven, and Vancouver just pulled off a stunning championship season with a roster nearly a thousand TPA weaker than the Helsinki Titans. The Legion have to first round picks in the S76 VHL Entry Draft; Toronto's native pick should be high, and although I've just shown TPA doesn't mean much sometimes, there is a clear trending history that weaker TPA teams are obviously lower in the standings. As it currently stands, Toronto should be a lottery team; and then we've got London's pick, which I'm seriously hoping is a late first round pick indicative of a deep playoff run. I'd be okay with sixteenth overall, but that's just me. When we decided to trade for second overall Dtayl and I truly didn't know what we were doing, we never organized our priority chart based on actually owning London's lottery pick, we were operating under the impression Riga would going to slurp up all the players we were targeting at thirteen. In fact it was only a few hours before the draft when we made the final decision, but in retrospect as I write this article it was not only the correct decision to make but the best decision to be made. As Riga was doing what I expected them to do -- picking first generation players earning maximum TPE -- I knew that my fourth highest rated player on my mentally reorganized priority chart would have been selected long before I had the opportunity to select him at thirteen. I hit up Muff and asked if he'd be okay trading down, gave him a fifth round pick to make it happen, and drafted Kaberle at eleventh overall. Moving up cost us nothing, really, but gave us Toronto's future #1 and #2 defenders. Quick blurb!
