So, the VHLM has just begin and the Las Vegas Aces start their season with a double header against the Mexico City Kings. Let’s see how they got on.

Both games went right down to the wire, with game 1 going to OT and game 2 going to the shootout. Game 1 went the way of the Mexico City Kings as they beat Vegas 5-4 in overtime. The Kings raced to a 4-2 lead heading into the 3rd but, a strong offensive display from the Aces took the game to OT. VHLM veteran RJ Thatcher fired past Sovick, off the feed from Wu at the tail-end of overtime to give his team the full 2 points.

Game 2 was a more tense affair but entertaining none the less. The lead swung back and forth throughout the whole 60 minutes with Vegas taking a 2-1 lead into the 3rd. The Kings pushed ahead in the 3rd to take a 3-2 lead but a powerplay goal from Wachuire 5 minutes from time was enough to send the game to OT. Overtime proved not to be decisive as the game require a shootout to end it. Gucci was first up for Vegas and fired past Emerson to give Vegas the lead. RJ Thatcher as first up for Mexico but he was stopped by Sovick. Next up was Artair McCloud and he dangled Emerson and tucked it home for a 2-0 Vegas lead. Justin Lose kept the Kings in the game with a well-placed shot past Sovick. Power had the chance to end it but Emerson made his 1st save of the shootout. Sosa had to score to kept the game alive but Sovick shut the door and earned the 2 points for his team.

Thanks for tuning into Vegas’ league opening double header. We’ll see you next time.
