Hello, and welcome back to another edition ProspecTalk on VHLM.com where we interview your favourite prospects for this year’s upcoming VHLM draft. Today’s prospect is none other than Bulgaria’s very own, Sasha Petrov. This young playmaker is relativity unknown in North American, but in his native land of Bulgaria, they’re calling him the Bulgarian Gretzky. Obliviously, this is high praise for Sasha, especially since he’s never even stepped on North American ice, or doesn’t speak any English. Since he doesn’t speak any English Today on ProspecTalk we brought along a Bulgarian translator.

How’s it going Sasha?

Very good, very good.

Why did you decide to bring your talents to VHL instead of the KHL?

I’ve always watched the VHL as a kid, and I loved watching all the European teams on my TV. I’ve always aspired to be playing in the best league in the world with the best players in the world.

Who was your favourite team growing up?

I liked all the teams, especially the European ones, so I didn’t really have one team in particular that I cheered for. Although, I did have a Riga Reign jersey, if that counts.

Who do you model your game after?

I wouldn’t say I model my game after anyone, really. I am my own player and I play my own style of play that I’ve been playing with ever since I was a little boy.

What is your style of play, then?

I like to have the puck on my stick a lot and carry the puck until I find a good pass. I definitely use my skating to my advantage; I can get around defenders with my speed. I like to keep my game at a high pace while at the same time, making sure I always have good control with the puck.

What do you think of people calling you the Bulgarian Gretzky?

Haha, that’s very funny, I don’t think I’m at that level yet, but maybe one day I’ll be that good, it’s going take a lot of hard work, though.

What are you going do to stay motivated to reach your full potential?

That’s a really good question, my motivation is just looking at the possible outcomes that would come from me being successful. The awards, the championships, the magazine covers, are things I dream about, and I know if I can work hard enough, that can actually happen.

Last question, where so you see yourself in 5 years?

Hopefully I have been drafted to the VHL already, be on a team that gives me good playing time, and hopefully in 5 years, people will say I’m one of the best, but I still have a long way to go.

Thanks for your time Sasha.

My pleasure.

Tune in next time for PropecTalk as we interview another one of your favourite prospects!

Welcome back! This was a nice first article for your first point task. Interviews tend to be dry but this one was decent, giving us a nice introduction to Petrov. I saw in your creation thread that you have tried a few players in the past, I really hope this one works out for you!
