Gooningitup 1,290
Askarov finished his first VHL season with a record if 8-0-2 picking up 10 of 12 points for the Wranglers. Impressive start going the entire season without a regulation loss. He continues to work his ass off, and hopefully wind up as a starter sooner than later. It is a tough adjustment going from being the man to just a back up. However, his play helped Calgary capture the victory cup. Infact it was Askarovs last win that sealed the 1st place spot for Calgary. He will play second fiddle the rest of the season as Calgary will ride Lafontaine in the playoffs till they either win it all or are eliminated. So now his total focus is being set on next season. His last on his rookie deal, which begs alot of questions about his future as he has stated he wont stay a back up for very long. He has been working his butt off and does not want to just waste his career away. Time will tell if his starting role is in Calgary or somewhere else.
