So in my new before and after series focusing on past champions (and possibly runner ups as well) I came across a player named Jack Feriancek who interested me in the fact that he barely played in his last two seasons. I thought I'd take a deeper look at his career in the VHL. He was originally drafted by HC Davos Dynamo in in season 70, in season 72 he was traded to the Riga Reign and then again that season traded to the Malmo Nighthawks. In his first season in the VHL he would play all 72 games and clock 2047 minutes, fourth most on the team. He scored 9 goals and 10 assists for 19 points, he had 79 penalty minutes and 163 hits. 5 power play goals and 2 power play assists for 7 power play points in 298 power play minutes, second most on the team. His points were 9th overall on the team, it's understandable that the GM wouldn't be happy with his production and his +/- of -59. Less time next season would make sense but what would happen is next to zero time. Season 73 Jack wouldn't record even a minute and average minutes played per game was 0.01. No points and just 1 hit. Playoffs he didn't play a full minute, average minutes played per game was 0.03. In his last season in the VHL not much would change, 1 minute, average time of 0.03 again. Playoff wise less than a minute, 1 shoot and 0.10 average minutes played. I give Jack credit for showing up to every game knowing he wasn't gonna play more than 1 second and most of the time he wouldn't. Just there to be a bench warmer.
