As of today, the S75 World Juniors are officially under way! After being hyped for weeks by the impatient GMs, the sims finally came today. Looking at the VSN WJC preview that came out not long ago, it was clear there were some upsets.

After the first few games, it was clear that this year's tourney would be unpredictable. It started out with a pedestrian 5-3 win for World over Asia, then a 5-1 spanking for USA over Canada, and it turned into a 6-3 upset victory over Europe at the hands of World. Considering Europe was ranked highest and World second lowest, it was quite the surprise. Chicken Wing getting 4 points in that game definitely made me rethink my selections for my team. However, later in the tourney, Europe routed Canada 6-2, which helped sooth my nerves quite a bit. World also finished the day 2-0, securing their status as the team to beat for now. USA also finished with an undefeated record, going 2-0 and beating Canada and Asia. Europe finished 1-1, while Canada squeaked by Asia to give themselves a 1-2 record, while Asia took a blow with a 0-3 record. After consulting the scores and the rosters one more time, we can get a good idea of what the standings will look like after the round robin. World has presented a good case for top in the tourney so far, although Europe outshot them. Europe also has a good chance, especially if they do well against USA. The Americans are also in the gold conversation, and their game against Europe will be an important one. As for the others, a quick turnaround will be beneficial.
