The first nine games of S76 are underway. Right away, a few teams established themselves as contenders and the teams to beat. One of those teams is the Warsaw Predators, who are still undefeated in regulation with 8 wins and 1 overtime loss. Even though they added some rookie talent from the VHLM, the addition of Uhtred, who is the second in the league in scoring, Defenseman Latrell Mitchell has also been key.

Also relevant in the European conference are the Helsinki Titans, who brought in a couple of young prospects to eventually replace their aging core. However, these aging guys are still pretty damn good. Ola Vikingstad leads the league in scoring, Patrik Laine is on the goals leaderboard, and Zamboni Driver is on a few of the goalie leaderboards. This team is still noticeable for now.

In the North American conference, The Vancouver Wolves and Chicago Phoenix sit on top of the rankings. The Wolves are coming off a cup win two seasons ago, and they're looking for more. Andrew Su is on a few of the league leaderboards, while Onde Sandstrom, Griff Manzer, and the rest of the older Wolves welcome some rookies like Jakob Sosa and Robin Galante Nilsson onto the team. The most noticeable rookie though has been goalie Markus Emerson Jr., who has yet to lose as game in the three that he played.

The final team worth mentioning is the Chicago Phoenix. The other half of the Dragons-Phoenix underdog run, the Phoenix were heartbroken as DC kicked them out of the playoffs. But this season, as DC struggles with 3 wins and 5 losses, the Phoenix fly high. Their goaltender, Jean Pierre Camus, has seen them through every season they've existed. Hotshot rookie defenseman L will probably break a few records in his prime. And acquired scorer Kyl Oferson packs some offensive punch at the front of the pack

That wraps up this week's vhl.com article installment.
