    Rising Stars - Cameron Eastwood

With the new VHLM and VHL seasons quickly approaching us we wanted to take the time to look at some rising stars who have just enterd the minor leauge to have a look at their possible impact on the minor leauges and if they have potential to become the leauges new star.

Cameron Eastwood was a player for the Cardiff Devils in the Elite Ice Hockey Leauge (EIHL) Which is the main Ice Hockey team in the UK. Cameron had a extremely good season with 32 goals and 77 points one of the highest in the Leauge which is a extemely good look if he plays with the same class he did when he was in the UK leauge with a strong team around him expect him to boost morale and be a crutial part to the team.

    His Entrance to the VHLM

On the 8th of July he took to twitter to say that this was infact his last season with the Devils.

In recent news we have heard that he has accepted a contract from the Ottawa Lynx after being listed on the Free Agent Market for a few days, this is exciting news for the Ottawa Lynx as we have not heard much from them in the last couple of days however with them just losing the cup last year this shows their GM is making big moves to try and take the cup this year, recuriting a new young up and coming player shows they want to introduce new talent into the mix which while can be effective recurting underdog players it can also come with the risks such as adapting to a new leauge and a new team and all the changes from their comfort zone so Cameron will definitly be a player to watch.

    A Few Words With Cameron

We got the chance to hop into a skype call with Cameron and ask him a few questions about his new team and how he is feeling

Q - So Cameron, how did you find your last season with the Cardiff Devils and how did you come to the decision that you wanted to leave?

A - Well it was a great season since sort of the start of the season I kinda knew that I wanted to leave I have always wanted to play in the VHL, I talked to my coach and the Gm of the team about my feelings and they were completley fine with me going to presue my dreams, I am happy to have a Coach and GM like that who want to support me and help me persue my dreams. The Season was great we really tried our best, I let my teammates know that it was my last season towards our last few games they took it really well and there was a great atsophere in the Locker Room.

Q - What were you doing and what was your reaction when you found out about your Contract Offer

A - ahhah Well I was actaully playing a round of golf with a good friend of mine when I got a phone call telling me about the contract I flipped out I was over the moon infact I was so happy I couldn't concentrate on the game after and ended up hitting a Double Bogey

Q - How do you think you will perform this season?

A  - Erm to be honest I can't really tell, I'm just going to hit the ice with my new team get my head down and try to do the best I can for the team and just focus on my game

Q - Is it true you don't look at any social media after a game

A - Aahah yes it is true in fact I have a phone that I take to games it's a nokia that is only capeable of texting and calling, I do this beacause I find it helps me focus before a game and after a game It helps me to keep a clean and calm mindset.

    Conclusion

Cameron looks like a promising player to join the VHLM and you should definitly be keeping a eye on him as I think he can develop to be a household hockey name. Remeber the season starts 10th of July so be ready!

Welcome @CammyM , Some of the other GM's may throw you some offers to join there team. I am the GM of the Ottawa Lynx we made it all the way to the finals last season but could not win the cup. I am currently looking for forwards to help round out the team. Currently we have spots open on the Second/Third line with the ability to move up to higher profile roles if you stay active! I believe you could be a crucial piece to us winning a cup this season.

If you would like to become a part of the Ottawa Lynx quote this and say accepted!
