  1. Streaking to Victory The New York Americans of the VHL have stringed together an impressive twelve game winning streak. The interesting part? They have yet to take a single loss this season, starting off the season on the right foot. This is not a game of luck, there is definitely a reason behind their amazing record. This is a team that just came off a Continental Cup victory, trading away some players due to cap issues but still continue to charge onwards to their current record. 12-0-0. Wow. They have the most potent offense in the entire league at this point, leading the entire league with fifty two goals; ten more than the next best, Helsinki with forty two. They have also allowed the least amount of goals in league play with only twenty two allowed. What more could a team ask for? The greatest goal differential, +30. They lead the entire league in all these categories and haven't slowed down at all. A top notch penalty kill highlights their play, with an above average power play. They average an estimated seven and a half penalty minutes per game. PER GAME! They are tame and buy into the system, playing with skill rather than just crushing their opponents in a wear and tear type of game. Their centers have done an admirable job, even with Kellinger gone, they lead the league in face-off percentage by a good margin. Their general manager has done a remarkable job to replace his expensive and aging players for those of fresh blood. Many would have expected them to falter at this point, having lost one of their biggest scorers in the off-season and defenseman Zadarov due to cap issues but this team has gone ahead and increased their dominance to prove that those players aren't what make the New York Americans one of the best teams in the league. Brick Wahl has proven himself to be a top goaltender in the league so far, putting up brilliant numbers but they are definitely a product of his own hard work. Their back up played one game, being lit up but still managing a win, proving that Wahl contributes to the American's amazing streak. Tom Slaughter's one hit has to be the main reason why New York has done so well, also putting up twenty five points and thirteen goals in just twelve games. He also has yet to take a penalty, what a team player! Connor Low is primed to break a VHL record, hoping to take home his fifth Labatte trophy. Tordahl and Xin Xie Xiao have proved to be exceptional, both blessed with tremendous two-way abilities.Bennett Wahl, the best Wahl, looks to be having a breakout season with his nineteen points in twelve games, a much better start than last season. Sam Keller couldn't have chosen a better time to begin his career in the VHL. He might only have six points but is getting a chance to learn from the best so he can be properly groomed for next season and the play-offs. Milos Denis. He only has three points, all of them being assists. Though he also leads the entire league with his +/- rating of +15! Way to go Milos! An amazing cast of players, genius tactical moves by the coach and a cohesive group of people that compliment each other well. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that they will go streaking through to another twelve games. They have the star power, the hardware and determination. Where do you think their streak will end?
  2. Rhinehart Interview Jakub Rhinehart is the new shiny toy in town, the recently declared draft eligible German is now prepared to take a step into his journey to the VHL. Claimed off waivers by the Saskatoon Wild, the seventy six inch defender is expected to report to their training facilities shortly. He is a complete unknown compared to the other draft eligible defensemen that have already made strides in their development. It would only be fair to assume that Jakub is lacking valuable hours in the gym but looks fit and ready to jump into the VHLM season. He decided to sit down and accept an interview What kind of defenseman are you? I definitely consider myself a two way threat at this point of my career. It might be more beneficial to become an anchor to the blue line but I feel that my skills will speak for themselves. I have a good first pass and can shoot from the circle. My reach is long so I can check players with my stick. I don't consider myself large just yet since I am still filling out my frame but I want to be fully prepared for the VHL when the time comes. I know that I am not well-rounded yet but I am certain that as I get used the the league, the type of player I am will be more evident. Where do you see yourself five years from now? We're getting ahead of ourselves now! I do not have an accurate answer for that but I know where I want to be with realistic expectations. I do not see myself as a super star in the future but as a solid second pairing option. Best case scenario is that I will play on the top pairing as the second defenseman to support my teammates. A Continental Cup is what I want more than anything at this point. Sometimes a career isn't defined by individual accomplishments but how you play with others as a team. I'm not too flashy so I doubt I will pull in any big awards but that is the one that I am aiming for. If I can last a good three season or so in the VHL, then I know I have accomplished a lot. You are in the upcoming draft. Not ranked yet but where do you see yourself going? Now this is a difficult question to answer. There are already many defenseman in this draft that are very well developed. I would be happy to even be selected in the second round. Realistically speaking I will be picked up at the mid-second round. My play and progress will speak for itself so I don't want to sell myself high just yet. Kowalski looks to be a generational talent and I hope that someday we can play together. That was all from the interview with Jakub Rhinehart, considered a good prospect for the upcoming draft. He has the the potential to make an impact but that has yet to be seen. After being picked up by Saskatoon, he will be starting on the second pairing and work his way up the lineup throughout the season.
  3. munk <3 And yeah, I remember Chershenko. We were dynamite on the PP, 5v5 not so much.
  4. I haven't exactly decided on a plan for Rhinehart but i'm going to tamper my expectations to be a tad bit more realistic than when I first came here. I've only managed to create one VHL caliber player in Bravehart and that was after spending 3 seasons down in the minors. Unluckily for Jason my first season in the league was my contract year for the Calgary Wranglers. Thirty games in and I was tied for league lead in points with Jenkins and one goal above him to also lead the league. It was funny because I was at 175 TPE and doing all that. Even my own teammates started to question the league's sim engine like Rybak, who had been recently drafted but had a statline that paled in comparison. I led the team in every major statistical category, which turned out well for me since I was a two-way player. I decide to milk the Wranglers for a big money contract that I proved later on not to be worth. In the remaining stretch of games, especially after the deadline my stats declined and dropped like an anchor. This time around I expect to just be a decent depth defenceman, maybe a #2 if i'm lucky enough and committed. Nothing fancy and I can't guarantee you the best of my activity but i'll lurk around and post from time to time so Rhinehart can be a serviceable player for any team that has him.
  5. Not sure if he's around but officially retired now.
